What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is the time-tested therapy that has been practiced in the Far East for thousands of years. The philosophy behind the treatment is that energy lines or meridians circulate around the body. These meridians contain our energy flow or "qi" (pronounced "chi"). It is when this qi is impaired through the body that imbalance and illness occurs. With the insertion of fine needles at various points on the meridian, the energy can be moved or redirected to where it is needed most. In this way the body's balance can be restored and the illness resolved. The flow of energy can be disrupted in many ways: emotional upset, physical trauma, poor diet or overwork are all common examples. By examining this underlying cause and how it has affected the body, the most appropriate treatment for the patient can be selected. Western medicine has different opinions on how acupuncture works but in short, no one is really sure. However, trial after trial consistently proves its effectiveness. Acupuncture also includes other techniques such as cupping, moxibustion or acupressure.
What is Laser Therapy? Laser therapy or "Photomedicine" is the application of red or near infrared radiation over compromised injured areas, arthritic joints, knee osteoarthritis, herniated lumbar/sacral disc, and lower back and neck (just to name a few) to stimulate healing and relieve pain without sensation or side effects. Low level laser therapy (LLLT) aims to photo-biostimulate the cells. This therapy actually excites the cells. A low level laser device transmits photons. The skin then absorbs these photons. At most, these laser devices can penetrate down in the body's tissue to roughly 3 inches in depth. Take note that this does not cause heat or damage tissues. These beams do promote a lot of cellular activities. Since there is a higher production of cells, LLLT will help in speeding up the healing process while it eases the pain felt by the body. Also, since the low level laser helps in producing collagen, this prevents the formation of scar tissues. Laser therapy will help speed up the healing process by an average of at least 50% — with no side effects.

BIO - Originally from Northern Ontario, Marcel spent 24 years in the Vancouver area and has been living in Vernon since July, 2003. He is a qualified Social Worker, accredited Arts & Crafts instructor, and has completed his studies in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. During the past few years he has traveled to several sacred places, such as Sedona and Machu Picchu. While in Peru, he also participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony in the Amazon Jungle. This mystical experience, involving the help and guidance of a local shaman, marked the beginning of a journey into his own spiritual identity.
_ In his quest for self-expression, Marcel has worked with tapestry weaving, basket weaving and watercolours. Then in 2000, guided by his intuition, he gradually learned how to help the stone spirits manifest themselves. In most of his work, Marcel employes an inlay method using precious, semi-precious stones and natural crystals.
