Prayers – The Asking
by Sharon Taphorn,
Vancouver & Williams Lake

“Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.”  Sarah Ban Breathnach

Prayer means something different to each of us. Many of us grew up on wonderful and well meaning mantra prayers. We said them every night before we went to bed, as we were told. Yet, did we really understand it. I know that I didn’t. I knew I was honouring and thanking god and the angels, I wasn’t sure for what. I think it was a way of preparing us to shut down for the night.

As I grew to connect with source, to commune with my Creator, I once again began to use prayer in my life, not the same kind of prayer I grew up with, a way of speaking my heart to non-physical forces within and around us. Prayer is how we tell the universe what we want and that ‘universe’ begins with our own higher selves and our own cellular consciousness. By expressing what we desire, using our words to guide what we choose to create, we bring greater clarity to our projects and we begin to align the forces of creation to fulfill those desires.

One of the most amazing and factual evidence of the power of prayer is the work of Dr. Massru Emoto, a creative and visionary Japanese researcher. One of his most important works “The Message form Water” shows us the results of his worldwide research on the effects of our thoughts, words, ideas and music, affect the molecular structure of water, the very same water that comprises over seventy percent of a mature human body and covers the same about of our planet. Its quality and integrity are vitally important to all forms of life. The body is very much like a sponge and we are comprised of trillions of cells that hold liquid. The quality of our life is directly connected to the quality of our water.

Dr. Emoto has been visually documenting these molecular changes in water by means of his photographic techniques. He freezes droplets of water and then examines them under a dark field microscope that has photographic capabilities. His work clearly demonstrates the power our thoughts and emotions can have on water.

The photographs in Dr Emoto’s books show the incredible reflections of water, as alive and highly responsive to all  our emotions and thoughts. It is quite clear that prayers and how we think affects water, whether the prayers or thoughts are toxic, polluted or naturally pristine.

I believe this collection of works demonstrates the powerful tool our prayers can have on ourselves, our food and our environment. We now have profound evidence that we can positively heal and transform ourselves and our planet by the thoughts we choose to think and the ways in which we put those thoughts into action.

Prayer is an amazing tool. It doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated. Keep it simple, and trust that you will discover just how far a little prayer can take you.

Prayer is much like setting your intent. First gain clarity about what it is you are asking for. For example: Each morning I set my intent for what I want to experience that day. By doing this, I am letting the universal energy know what I want to attract into my life. Take some time to think about what it is you really really really want. As when you begin asking, the universe begins providing.

I once asked to be a more loving being... and within a short time I was presented with many opportunities to be more loving and encountered more angry, loud people than I could have imagined. I was blessed with plenty of opportunities to learn to be more loving.

I usually begin my day with a prayer something like this..... it is never the same, as each day is a new day, and has different goals and experiences. Once I am clear what I want for that day, I begin to speak what I am feeling in my heart:

“I call upon the God Creator, the guides, the angels and all the beings of light to be with me this day. I ask my higher self to be with me through my day. To guide me to see the choices that come before me with clarity and love. I ask that I am able to create a miracle in someone else’s life today and that I am surround by light and love and am a beacon of attracting light and love to me. I am fully connected to my guidance and my heart as I journey through this day and am able to stay in perfect balance throughout the day. I ask this in the name of the Christ consciousness, the goddess weave of love and holy spirit of the am that I AM.”

I encourage you to add prayer into your life. Use it before you eat, before you drive, before you begin to write, the list is endless. I know that I happier with the results of anything I do when I say a prayer and set my intent before I begin any project. I encourage you to check out Dr. Emoto’s work. It truly astounds me and showed me how much our thoughts about ourselves can affect us as we are mostly a water being living on a water planet. Enjoy!
