The Nia 5 Stages is an integrative movement practice based on the five stages of human development: Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking. Practiced with awareness, these stages have the power to facilitate optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. Whether practiced at length or for as little as five minutes a day, this system provides a tool for reclaiming and sustaining mobility, flexibility, strength, agility and stability

These guided sessions help you gain optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. You will be provided with special Nia kneepads for your floor work.

Motion Works Fitness is a health and wellness lifestyle business dedicated to safe and meaningful exercise methods.

Classes at Motion Works Fitness are designed for ‘Every Beautiful Body’ and are co-ed.

We have an open, bright studio with warm and easy-on-the-joints flooring. There is a washroom & sink on the premises (no showers) and an inviting sitting area. There is a small kitchen with additional sink, microwave and fridge.

Lots of parking is available on Leon, Pandosy & Lawrence for short term (2 hrs.) and a convenient parking garage across the street for longer hours. Make sure you carry change for the parking meters.

While we have mats, water etc. on site, it is advisable that you bring your own accessories: mat, shoes (or not), water bottle.

Patti Tennessy is a certified BCRPA Weight Training FL, certified Nia Technique Black Belt & 5 Stages Instructor, certified Yoga-Fit Instructor, Pilates Allegro Reformer Instructor and a former Can-Fit Pro Nutrition & Wellness Specialist. She has extensive background in training sport specific (figure skating) for over 25 years. Patti shares a vision to create a knowledgeable and empowering fitness ethic where participants can learn and experience the joy of a healthy lifestyle.
