Quinoa Pizza Crust

Description:
I have nothing against a good ol’ fashioned pizza crust. In fact, I rarely turn down a slice of margherita. But I hate that pizza has to be reserved as a “splurge”— a weekend indulgence I don’t feel great about afterwards. My newfound solution to these pizza crust woes: a protein- and fiber-packed quinoa crust. Not only is it a great gluten-free option, but it also makes for a more nutritious slice. After all, we’ve used quinoa in both sweet and savory tarts, and it’s the base for one of my favorite breakfast quiches. It only seemed fair to pair it with pizza! Unlike some alternative pizza crusts, this one truly resembles the original. After soaking, quinoa combines with water in the food processor to create a pancake-like batter that bakes into a golden, chewy crust. The quinoa needs to soak overnight, so set it out this evening and enjoy pizza night tomorrow.

Kale and Cauliflower Casserole

Description:
This is a nice way to add Kale into your meals. This recipe can be a main or a side dish. Kale is a leafy green cruciferous vegetable that is chock-full of essential vitamins A, C and K as well as minerals like copper, potassium, iron, manganese and phosphorus. A cup of fresh kale has only about 40 calories but packs almost 3 grams of protein. Kale is being called “the new beef”, “the queen of greens” and “a nutritional powerhouse.” Kale is high in iron. Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef. Iron is essential for good health, such as the formation of hemoglobin and enzymes, transporting oxygen to various parts of the body, cell growth, proper liver function and more. Kale is high in Vitamin K. Eating a diet high in Vitamin K can help protect against various cancers. It is also necessary for a wide variety of bodily functions including normal bone health and blood clotting. Also increased levels of vitamin K can help people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Kale is filled with powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants, such as carotenoids and flavonoids help protect against various cancers. Kale is a great anti-inflammatory food. One cup of kale is filled with 10% of the RDA of omega-3 fatty acids, which help, fight against arthritis, asthma and autoimmune disorders. Kale is great for cardiovascular support. Eating more kale can help lower cholesterol levels. Kale is high in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is great for your vision, your skin as well as helping to prevent lung and oral cavity cancers. Kale is high in Vitamin C. This is very helpful for your immune system, your metabolism and your hydration. Kale is high in calcium. Per calorie, kale has more calcium than milk, which aids in preventing bone loss, preventing osteoporosis and maintaining a healthy metabolism. Vitamin C is also helpful to maintain cartilage and joint flexibility Kale is a great detox food. Kale is filled with fiber and sulfur, both great for detoxifying your body and keeping your liver healthy.

Cauliflower Pizza Crust

Description:
The kind you can pick up with your hands. The kind that will fool your family. The kind you’ll want to eat again and again! Cutting back on gluten and grains? This veggie-powered pizza needs to make its way to your kitchen. Freshly grated cauliflower serves as the base for the creative and delicious crust that you can fold up just like traditional pizza! The recipe only called for grape tomatoes and fresh basil, but feel free to toss a ton more veggies on this pizza pie to bulk it up a bit. At less than 300 calories for half the pie, this is a pizza recipe you can enjoy sans guilt.

Question
What are good sources of Iron found in foods?

Answer
The amount of iron we need depends on our age and sex. The best sources of iron come from animal products - mainly red meat. However, we get a good proportion of iron from non-animal sources too.
Iron sources include:

Red meat and offal - eg, beef, lamb, pork, kidneys, liver, heart, black pudding (note pregnant woment should avoid liver).
Fish and shellfish - eg, sardines, pilchards, crab, anchovies, shrimps, mussels.
Eggs.
Cereal and cereal products - eg, bread, Rice Krispies®, corn flakes, Weetabix®, Ready Brek®, Special K®, Shreddies®, bran flakes, Cheerios®, oatcakes, rye crispreads.
Nuts and seeds - eg, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pecans, walnuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pine nuts.
Green leafy vegetables - eg, broccoli, spinach, watercress, kale.
Beans and pulses - eg, baked beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas, black-eyed beans, kidney beans.
Dried fruit - eg, raisins, apricots, prunes, currants, figs.
Miscellaneous - eg, plain (dark) chocolate, cocoa powder, mango chutney, cherries in syrup, gingernut biscuits, pastry, curry powder.
Small amounts of haem iron are found in game and poultry - eg, pheasant, venison, rabbit, chicken, turkey.

Having vitamin C with iron-rich foods will help to absorb the iron more easily. Serve up meals with plenty of vegetables and fruit or have glass of orange juice with your meal.
Eating meat at meal times can also help to absorb the iron from non-animal sources.
Avoid drinking tea with meals as this can actually reduce the amount of iron that is absorbed. Raw wheat bran can also interfere with the absorption of iron so this should be avoided.

Talking to Heaven: A Medium's Message of Life After Death
by James Van Praagh

James Van Praagh is a spiritual medium--someone who is able to bridge the physical and spiritual worlds. Unaware of his spiritual gifts until he was in his twenties, he slowly came to terms with his unique abilities. In addition, many of his sessions with grieving people who came to him looking to contact the spirits of deceased loved ones are explored. From a devastated mother receiving a message of hope from her deceased little girl to communicating with a young man, killed in Vietnam, who doesn't realize he's dead, the theme of hope and peace in the afterlife is affirmed. Van Praagh also helps the reader recognize and positively deal with the pain of grief in a healthy, honest manner. Part spiritual memoir, part case study, part instrumental guide, Talking to Heaven will change the way you perceive death...and life.

Melissa review
I loved this book and all of the stories and examples in it. The book read quickly and easily--I couldn't put it down once I started. The description of the author's contact with spirit has familiar threads to personal experiences. I am so happy to read the description and instruction for how to cultivate your own connection with spirit. The book is also a good example how someone helped the author see--at a young age--that his ability was a gift and should be cultivated and developed, not be ashamed of it or feel guilty. This is a good lesson for parents or others who encounter children with these types of psychic abilities can help the child embrace the gift and not fear or feel ashamed by it. I would highly recommend this book to read about this author's journey with his psychic gift.

Monica rated it 5 of 5 stars
"Talking to Heaven" by James Van Praagh provided me with spiritual comfort after the loss of my father. Praagh is a medium who has the abilities to communicate with departed souls. As a young child, he realized that he had this special gift and has been doing it for most of his adult life. The personal insights of Praagh's work are fascinating. The many different stories of people finding that their loved ones are still present around them are enlightening. The book is well written with inspiring content. His natural writing style and discussions of the afterlife are very easy to understand. The book is uplifting and easy to read. I have always believed in spirits and Angels. James refers to them as "Guides". My father died almost three years ago. It was the hardest experience I have ever dealt with. His death crushed me to pieces. This book has helped me to believe that he is still with me in spirit. Even though I have never practiced Praagh's methods of contacting the dead (which he says everyone has the ability to do) I have felt the presence of my father through dreams. One such time being while I was driving in my car and thinking of him with tears rolling down my face. I asked for some kind of sign from him.

Wanna hear first hand feedback from past trip members?
Check out the following testimonials from people who have been on our
2013 and 2014 Celtic Angel Sacred tour to Ireland each March.

“I would highly recommend this Celtic Angel tour & the people who organized it were amazing. The people on the trip are now family and it was so hard to leave. I so want to go on another one! A big thanks you to Cindy and Maria and everyone who assisted us along the way. I especially like the sheep, handing candy to the kids in the St. Patrick’s day parade, the scenery and views, Maria’s family and the bus driver was so informative and friendly. I give this tour 10 out of 10” - Theresa

"One of the reasons that I wanted to go on the tour was to reclaim my energy and my connection to my angels and guides. I've been less active in the energy healing field - and I was much in need of recharging. I definitely found that on our tour! In fact, the minute we arrived in Ireland I felt great - and between Cindy's course, visits with Maria, that first visit to the church in Cork, the stone circle and the sisterhood visit to the island, I was back to being me and being in touch. Those were the memorable spiritual moments for me. The rest was wonderful - cutting cords, talking to the Archangels, trusting my intuition again, a different way of clearing chakras. Cindy's course was great! And of course I enjoyed the countryside and the bus tours and the commeraderie around our tables at the pub was great. A long time since I've had so much fun. Ireland was absolutely wonderful. Maria did a fabulous job as tour director. The tour group didn't have to do any thinking or planning - just go! I loved everything about Ireland - the people and their sense of humour, the Irish music and glorious scenery and old buildings and rock walls and sheep and on and on." Dianne

“What can I say except everything was way beyond my expectations” - Carol

“This Tour has been so amazing on so many levels. I’ve experienced feelings, emotions, connections that I never thought possible – Normally only other people get it and not me. I was coached in an easy to grasp concept by Cindy of how to connect with my angel team and how to use them to help me on my path. Visiting the stone circles and all that Ireland has to offer as well as Maria and her Family has made the whole trip magical. One trip I will never forget. Thank you” – From Cindy W.

"From the moment of landing until your last day your trip will be a remarkable adventure . Whether you are a seasoned traveler who usually makes all their own arrangements or a beginning world explorer you will appreciate the care and detailed arrangements that Maria makes in preparation for the trip and during your days of travel. There is so much to see in Ireland and Maria manages to squeeze in an amazing variety of engaging experiences: historic sites, sacred circles, breathtaking landscapes, cityscapes, shops, galleries, museums, pubs! Places to linger all day or evening. Food of course is important. While on the road Maria finds interesting stops for delicious and always too plentiful amounts of food. Evening group dinners will be a highlight. It is a jam packed trip. With Maria's sense of humour even the road touring experience in the green Paddy bus is a delightful experience. Bring your wellies!" Dawn

I was very appreciative of Maria's knowledge of the area and Cindy as an amazing teacher. We had so much fun - Anonymous.

I have had the time of my life. Hugh growth! Thank you for the help I needed to get where I needed to go on my journey. I really enjoyed the energy from the people and I wouldn’t change a thing on our tour – Colleen

Wonderful holiday. Loved the organizing of you both and your great energy. Maria was always around to help or guide us. Our bus driver Mike was so special. The day tours were wonderful. Thank you both – Rosie

Amazing organizing – met great people on the tour and from Ireland – Great Course - bus drivers were so personal, so much personality, excellent – I loved been off the beaten track – Fabulous holiday, wish we had more time there – Anonymous

The best was being in the energy, being with like minded people. The surprises were a wonderful bonus. Some hotels have no facecloths in Ireland. All in all a wonderful experience and well worth it – Anonymous

10+ for value for this tour and organizing. This was a fabulous experience – Anonymous
