Arugula Mango Salad

Description:
The Health Benefits Of Arugula. All salad greens are healthy, right? Most are very low in calories, but not all give you a good dose of nutrients. Isn't it time to ditch the iceberg lettuce and try something different? Discover the delicious health benefits of arugula. Arugula, also known as salad or garden rocket, is a nutritious leafy green vegetable of Mediterranean origin. It belongs to the brassicaceae family like mustard greens, cauliflower, kale…etc and has scientific name Eruca sativa. Salad rocket is a low growing annual herb features dandelion like succulent, elongated, lobular leaves with green veins. Young plant features plain light green color leaves, which appear identical to that of spinach. Young, tender leaves feature sweet, nutty, flavor with less peppery taste than strong spicy flavored mature greens. Rocket salad is rich source of certain phytochemicals such as indoles, thiocyanates, sulforaphane and isothiocyanates. Together they have been found to counter carcinogenic effects of estrogen and thus help benefit against prostate, breast, cervical, colon, ovarian cancers by virtue of their cancer cell growth inhibition, cytotoxic effects on cancer cells. Rocket is very good source of folates. 100 g of fresh greens contain 97 mcg or 24% of folic acid. When given around conception period it helps prevent neural tube defects in the newborns. This vegetable also rich Vitamin A, C and in B-complex group of vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), and pantothenic acid those are essential for optimum cellular enzymatic and metabolic functions.

Granola with Wheat Germ, Seeds and Blackstrap Molasses

Description:
The advantage of making your own healthy homemade granola is that you can avoid some of the hydrogenated fats and corn syrup found in many of the commercial brands. Granola made this way is also a heart-healthy snack food because of the relatively low fat content and the vitamins and minerals supplied by the grains, seeds, nuts and fruits. Oats and other grains are rich in magnesium and other minerals and vitamins which help keep cholesterol low. This recipe I like because of the blackstrap molasses. Blackstrap molasses is a very good source of iron. Particularly for menstruating women, who are more at risk for iron deficiency, boosting iron stores with blackstrap molasses is a good idea--especially because, in comparison to red meat, a well known source of iron, blackstrap molasses provides more iron for less calories and is totally fat-free. Iron is an integral component of hemoglobin, which transports oxygen from the lungs to all body cells, and is also part of key enzyme systems for energy production and metabolism. So, granola can be a quite healthy as part of a diet rich in natural grains and vegetables - and as a welcome treat for when you are working or playing extra hard.

Almost No Fat Vegan Brownies

Description:
These brownies are a delicious, low-fat, high-fiber indulgence. Vegans and omnivores will enjoy their rich flavor.

Healthy Tips for Men

Breakfast
Dieticians eating something for breakfast each day. If you normally skip this meal, consider trying to eat breakfast at least 3 days next week. Quick and healthy choices include dry whole grain cereal, dried or fresh fruit, whole wheat toast lightly spread with peanut butter, low fat yogurt, soy milk, a small piece of cheese, or oatmeal. It is not necessary to eat a lot of volume or a lot of fat, but eating something for breakfast can help maintain better energy during the morning hours.

Five Blocks to Better Health
There are 336 30-minute blocks of time in one week. The American Heart Association recommends that you commit five or more "blocks" to exercise. In the time it takes you to watch five sit-coms you could be on your way to better health!

To Lighten Up the Sandwich
Looking for ways to lighten up your sandwiches? There are two easy approaches: cut unnecessary calories; and opt for healthy or at least healthier fats. Here are some examples. If you love mayo, ask for light; you can save 50 calories and 6 grams of fat per Tbsp. Better yet, use a little liquid oil & vinegar dressing. Cheese? Use reduced fat cheese to save 50 calories and 5 grams of saturated. To remove even more saturated fat, drop the cheese entirely.

Exercise Cool Down
Fitness experts recommend cooling down after a moderate to high intensity exercise session. This prevents sudden pooling of blood in the muscles. Slowly cooling down also prevents sudden drops in blood pressure that can lead to dizziness and falls. During the last 3-5 minutes of your workout, gradually decrease the exercise intensity. Gently approach your resting state before coming to a complete stop.

Get Those Fluids
People are mostly made of water, and adults generally need about 10-12 cups (8 oz. each) of fluids each day. Most fluids, even chicken soup and orange juice, count as part of your 10-12 cups. If a glass of water sounds boring, spruce it up. Garnish your glass with a mint
sprig and a slice of lime, lemon, orange, pineapple, kiwi, star fruit or even a few fresh berries.

Pain by Carole Fawcett
It drains you of energy, depletes your creativity, lightens your memory and exhausts you beyond any known definition of the word exhaustion. Your view of the world changes radically and sometimes the worlds view of you changes too (at least, it becomes easy to think that it has). The 'it' I am referring to is pain. The pervasive, invasive, all encompassing personal warning that-something-is-wrong-signal...
Sacred Sites and Earth’s Power Places by Monika Muranyi
There are numerous sacred sites and power places all over the planet. What makes them sacred? Why do humans feel “power” emanating from the Earth? The answers are different for each person because we all feel things differently based on what is happening with our spiritual core, our connection with Gaia (Mother Nature), and our Akashic maturity (our cumulative past lives).

The Benefits of Fiber: For Your Heart, Weight, and Energy by Miscellaneous
Confused about fiber? You’re not alone. Dietary fiber is a misunderstood nutrient. Many people know it is important, but not much more than that. This article fills you in on the two main types of fiber – soluble and insoluble -- where to find them, and the health benefits they provide. Dietary fibers are found naturally in the plants that we eat. They are parts of plant that do not break down in our stomachs, and instead pass through our system undigested. All dietary fibers are either soluble or insoluble. Both types of fiber are equally important for health, digestion, and preventing conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, diverticulitis, and constipation...

What is Coenzyme Q10 used for? by David Dixon
Many people refer to it as CoQ10 but its full name is Coenzyme Q10. First, there are at least two forms of this little gem; Ubiquinone is the less expensive form and the poorer absorbed. The other form, Ubiquinol, is already converted, (which our system tends to do, before it is in a usable form), so it is more of a ready-to-use variety...

November 2016

Tip of the Month:

At this time when the veils are thin between dimensions the embodied and the disembodied, or what is usually referred to as dead, are invited to commune. When confronted with this great mystery and combined with morbidity associated with the frail physical body imaginations dive deep and soar high. Thus is the theme of Scorpio in the second decant, the 10 degrees of Scorpio overlaid with Pisces.

Of all the signs of the Zodiac, Pisces is the one which represents the veil between dimensions. The emphasis is upon altered perceptions, to see into the unusual and to bring forth imagination as means of adapting. Metamorphosis, transcendence, and ascension are keywords that belong to this mystical realm where purely empirical convictions cannot and dare not enter.

The New Moon in Scorpio on October 30th or what has come to be known as ‘Mat Night’, in some regions, and Devil’s Night in others, an informal intrusion inviting the expression of pranks a...
