Ren Chen – Yang Water Dragon Year - February 2012* Feb. 4th. 2012 (02:23 PST) – Feb. 3rd. 2013 (08:14 PST)By Teresa Hwang
For the upcoming Ren Chen year – Yang Water sitting on top of Dragon – which comprises of Yang Earth, Yin Wood & Yin Water………will be a year of change in a controlled manner, a lot less turmoil & conflict than last year’s Yin Metal Rabbit.
The element of Water will be very prominent, due to the Yin Water hidden in the Dragon, which is considered the storage of Water. Since there is also the existence of Yin Wood in the Dragon being fed by the Water, the Wood element is also quite strong.
Yang Water is big bodies of water, i.e. the sea, oceans and big lakes, with constant movement generated by wind and earth crust/tectonic plates. There is the high probability of tsunami and flooding caused by water, especially with rising water level along coastal communities due to global warming and melting ice caps. People living on the 500 year flood plains also have to be vigilant.
Yang Earth is big mountain ranges, the presence of Yin Wood, i.e. small shrubs, grasses and vines might not be sufficient to hold the earth in check. There will be high incidence of landslides and earthquakes when Earth clashes happen, especially during the Dog days and Dog month.
In terms of health issues, the Water element is related to the ears/hearing, kidneys, circulatory, urinary and reproductive systems; pay particular attention to these areas. A full medical check-up and investigative tests, preventative measures, e.g. commitment to a healthy life style and eating habits, will help bolster the Human factor in the big picture – the Cosmic Trinity - Heaven, Earth and Man/Human.
Since the Dragon clashes with the Dog in the Four Pillars of Destiny analysis, people who have the Dog in their destiny charts will expect some upheavals in their lives for this year. And for people who were born in the previous Ren Chen year (1952), some major changes in life can be mitigated by their own positive action, changes and attitude this year. Of course good Feng Shui in their environment will have a positive impact.
For more detailed look at the impact of the Yang Water Dragon on each person, we need to look at the individual’s Four Pillars of Destiny Chart - based on the year, month, day, hour and place of birth, in order to fully analyze the implication upon each individual’s life within this solar year. The most important factor is each individual’s Day Master, the Yang Element present on the day you were born.

The Year of the Yang Water Dragon (2012) Feng Shui Guide:
- Tai Sui is in Chen – East-southeast - (15 degrees) –
Do not sit facing Tai Sui, which is the strongest inauspicious qi of the year, and the leader of all the Annual Sha Qi, even if it is one of your good directions according to Ba Zhai.
Do not go against the Tai Sui. In case of construction or renovation, select an auspicious day for commencement of the project. Avoid major earth digging, hammering and loud commotions within this sector.
- Sui Po is in Xu – West-northwest - (15 degrees) –
The annual qi that challenges the Tai Sui, as Xu clashes Chen directly. It should not be activated to annoy Tai Sui, e.g. by major earth digging, hammering and loud commotions within this sector, and select an auspicious day for commencement of any project.
- San Sha (Three Killings) is in the South (90 degrees) –
- Jie Sha (Robbery Sha – the 30 degrees between 135 to 165 degrees)
- Zai Sha (Calamity Sha – the 30 degrees between 165 to 195 degrees)
- Sui Sha (Year Sha – the 30 degrees between 195 to 225 degrees)
Tai Sui Chen belongs to the Water Alliance – Zi, Chen and Shen. San Sha Fire is in direct conflict against Water, we need to confront this Sha Qi by facing it. Do not sit with your back towards it. Any major work in these sectors are not advisable, date selection will be very helpful for construction commencement on an auspicious day.
- Five Yellow is in Chen, Xun, Si - Southeast (45 degrees) – A strong negative Earth Qi, which could cause calamities, bankruptcy, obstacles and accidents. We can harmonize this Qi by Metal sounds within this part of the house - soft beautiful piano music, a chiming clock with round moving metal pendulum, etc.
Do not disturb this area, e.g. dig earth, hammer nails, construction, etc., date selection will be very helpful for construction commencement on an auspicious day.

Feng Shui is not static; we need to make changes constantly according to the passage of time on the individual space, in order to bring Sheng Qi and avoid Sha Qi in all the different aspects of our life.
Most importantly – knowing yourself according to your destiny chart, your strengths and weaknesses, your approach and attitude, your own action/inaction will have the biggest impact on your own life.
