What is Kinesiology ? by Evelyn Mulders

Energetic Kinesiology is derived from the chiropractic techniques of Applied Kinesiology. Kinesiology is defined, primarily as the use of muscle checking to identify imbalances in the body’s structural, chemical, emotional or other energy systems, to establish the body’s priority healing needs, and to evaluate energy changes brought about by a broad spectrum of therapeutic techniques.

A fundamental premise of Energy Kinesiology is that the body has the innate healing energy and is at all times doing its best to care for itself, but that sometimes it needs to be helped into a better position to achieve this care.

Energy Kinesiology Practitioners also recognize that there are flows of energy within the body that relate not only to the muscles but to every tissue and organ that go to make the body a living, feeling being. These energy flows can be evaluated by testing the function of the muscles, which in turn reflect the body’s overall state of structural, chemical, or emotional balance.

In this way Energy Kinesiology taps into energies that the more conventional modalities do not assess. Energy Kinesiology looks beyond symptoms and does not treat named diseases, nor does it diagnose them. Kinesiology is concerned with correcting imbalances in the body’s energy.

Often when there is muscular pain in the body, assistance in relieving the over tight muscle is sought but with Energy kinesiology the therapist is looking for the muscle that has lost its integrity, which has caused a synergist muscle to take over the job, which causes muscular stress that eventually translates into pain. By tapping into the theory of the meridians and using body touching techniques the Energy Kinesiologist can make an effect on the muscle which has lost its integrity and get it “switched on”, allowing the other muscles in the region to do their own work, which rids the body of pain.

Using Energy Kinesiology on back muscles has provided many clients with regained function and therefore pain relief. There are intricate core muscles in the back that for some reason get “switched off” leaving the larger muscle groups to take over the job that they were not designed to do which results in back fatigue and pain. Often it is a simple case of checking muscle integrity and if the muscle is “switched off” finding the correct circuit through body touching techniques to get the muscle “switched on”.

When the muscles of the back are working synergistically there is movement flexibility, stability and most importantly of all, no pain.
