WHAT IS HEALING TOUCH AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Healing Touch (HT) is become a popular energy healing modality that has been integrated into numerous hospital settings as an adjunct therapy that accelerates healing. It is based on the idea that the human energy system is integral to the wellbeing of an individual. When this system responds to a therapeutic intervention as Healing Touch, the mind, body and emotions are affected. This can create balance and relaxation, thereby optimizing the self-healing process.

HT originated as a continuing educational program for nurses through the American Holistic Nurses Association in the early 90's. Janet Mentgen, RN, BSN, founded the HT Program, which is based out of Colorado.

HT is an established modality worldwide, with over 50,000 practitioners. HT is unique in the sense that it has Standards of Practice, a Code of Ethics, and a Scope of Practice Statement. Healing Touch International was founded in 1996 to support research and the certification process.
