Being In Spirit - April 2010By Sharon Taphorn, Vancouver, BC
“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.” -Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)
Each day as we begin to walk with our spirit self consciously, the world begins to look and seem different. We become aware that when we do the steps that it takes, we make a difference in how we reach the desired outcome. I am reminded of a quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer, “When we change the way we look at things, the things you look at change.” As we begin to walk this journey together with our Spirit self, the world we walk changes.
If you are reading this article, chances are you know or at the very least question that you are more than your physical. That you are here to experience something other than a life of “you life, you work, you die – that is it”. As we begin to get in touch with that part of ourselves that is always connected to the mother/father/God/Goddess/Creator/All that is, we begin to do this human journey from an entirely new vantage point.
An important step in becoming one with your Spirit Self is to connect with you inner being, you’re higher self, or that part of you that is always connected to the timeless/space-less All that Is, connected to our Source. This is one of the most important connections and relationship for each of us to work on. Many of us have been ignoring this part of ourselves for most of our life. Chances are you were aware of your connection as a child; however we often forget as we become more associated with only the physical reality. When we learn to consciously connect with our inner being, to consciously work with our inner being, we start to walk blended together in a beautiful light of love, peace and balance. Our journey begins to change to living a life on purpose rather than by change or reaction.
Meditation is the key to getting in touch with your Spirit Self. If you do not have a meditation practice, you must decide that you are worth this effort and practice. As little as 10 minutes each day will begin to change your life. You need not spend hours and hours attempting to empty your mind. Commit to 21 days of at least 10 minutes each day. If you miss a day, begin again at day 1 until you have meditated for 21 days in a row.
As you begin your day, set your intent to connect with your spirit self. Begin to focus on your breath, relax and release any tension or thoughts that you don’t need. Envision spirit perched on your shoulder as a sacred witness. You may make it personal and see a beautiful Angel perched there, or a favourite guide, or master of your choice; make it real (for it will be). Again, intent is the key. It will become more real to you as time passes and you will begin to feel the bliss of Spirit and the company of angels around you as your constant companions. As situations or situations that really get your attention arise, become an observer of the process: what is the lesson behind the situation? Or what is this person mirroring for your learning? How would your Sacred Witness act or react in this situation, or to this person?
After a while, this becomes the normal way you function throughout the day. You Experience, observe, analyze, act and integrate the wisdom of the occurrence. By operating in this manner, you move out of the realm of cause and effect (karma), and into a state of grace, of walking in Spirit.
Throughout the day, make it a habit to notice the world around you; what can you be joyful about? Practice being thankful for the beauty and bounty in your life, maintain an attitude of gratitude, this helps condition the subconscious mind and helps to remove fear and negative vibrations from your conscious mind and auric field. If you are joyful, loving and grateful, there is no reason for doubt, fear or negativity.
Once you begin working with your inner being, you have opened up a communication and ally who is ready, willing and able to assist you in consciously creating your journey. Begin to journal or write the conversations you have with this most beautiful part of you. Write about your experiences as the Sacred Witness in your day and watch as your life begins to change.
Sharon's Bio: I am a Teacher, Healer, and Adventurer on this human journey. As an early indigo, I felt most at home with nature and animals. I have always been empathic and sensitive to the energies in my environment. Learning to work with these enhanced senses in the 3D world has been an interesting journey. I began to seek answers and clarity in books and libraries at an early age, my quest for a better understanding of why I could see, hear, feel and smell things others could not. This led to an exploration of many religions, beliefs and experiences, some dark, some strange. I learned the power of our thoughts, and working with other dimensional energies through classes on empowerment, workshops, books and life experience. A life threatening illness in my son when he was three led me to Nursing, which led me to alternative healing as my patients would tell me they felt better when I was working (I knew I had a healing touch and made a point of always touching my patients). And mother to a 22 year old multidimensional Indigo. - Email

 | How to Steam Vegetables | Category: Vegetarian Entrees Description: When I sit down to prepare my meals, I know for certain that vegetables will always find their way onto my table. Although I like to grill vegetables, steaming them is one of my preferred methods. By steaming a vegetable, its color, texture, and flavor is better retained, as is the vegetable’s nutritional content. Steaming is also one of the easiest ways to prepare vegetables, and can be done in minutes.
