Chakradance is a dynamic form of dance which aids in relieving and balancing the stresses of modern day living. Offering similar benefits to yoga, Chakradance increases your awareness of the connection between your body and soul and leaves you with a feeling of inner peace and serenity. Unlike most other dance practices, Chakradance® is about making a connection with our inner world - the world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses.
The dance itself is free-form spontaneous movement. Every time you dance it will be different, as it is your own unique body expression and thus no dance experience nor prior knowledge of the chakras is necessary for engaging in Chakradance®. Guided by especially composed worldly music that is resonating to each of the seven chakras and verbal cues by the Licensed Chakradance® Facilitator, participants are taken on a spiritual dance journey.

Chakradance draws on a fusion of philosophies and musical styles, focusing solely on personal experience, and balancing individual chakras – the energy centres which are the gateways to integrating mind, body and spirit,” says founder, Natalie Southgate.

“Through dance we are able to free up our natural energy flows and harmonise our chakras, thereby strengthening our state of health and well-being. Participants are taken on a dynamic dance journey through their own energy centres.”
Chakradance® is held in a safe sacred container, in which the Licensed Facilitator holds space for those who are journeying inward. Participants (including those who want to dance while sitting) move with their eyes closed or gaze lowered as this naturally draws the awareness to one’s personal experience. It is within the non-judgemental, witnessing, meditative state that participants often gain great insights and releases. Chakradance® often feels like a waking dream - common experiences are recalling memories, getting clarity and insights, physical sensations, emotional releases, having visions within in the mind’s eye.
As individuals dance to the frequency of each chakra, different issues surface, allowing the opportunity to explore the issues and experience the emotional charge related to the issues.
Participants express their experiences of the dance in a Mandala, further integrating the experiences of what is often felt like a waking dream, into the conscious realm of everyday life.
The whole of Chakradance® experience is embedded in Jungian Psychology, which aims to build a bridge between the subconscious and the conscious. From a depend place of connection between these two aspects of ourselves, healing can more easily occur and we are more able to live our lives more fully, more whole. This is the aim of Chakradance® also - to be the most we can be as human beings.
Chakradance® is about dancing Your dance, and discovering a deepend connection to your true, authentic self, the unravelling of blocked energy and the feeling of coming home. This healing dance practice provides a space for you to safely journey inwards using sound and movement therapy. The experience of Chakradance® for many is that of peace, clarity, healing, releasing, balancing, physical health, and a move into greater harnessing of one’s limitless human potential.
